Shira Koss
Shira Koss M.D. is a Board Certified Otolaryngologist, Head & Neck Surgeon.
She graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in Cognitive Science. She received her medical degree from Albert Einstein College of Medicine in the Bronx, NY, with Alpha Omega Alpha Society Honors. After medical school, Dr. Koss completed a five-year residency in Otolaryngology – Head and Neck Surgery at the New York Eye and Ear Infirmary and Mount Sinai programs in Manhattan. She then completed Laryngology fellowship training at Emory University in Atlanta. Following this, Dr. Koss completed a fellowship at Stanford University working with physicians, engineers, and business experts in medical device innovation.
Dr. Koss is the author of several peer-reviewed papers and has presented her research at multiple national meetings. She is an active part of the medical technology community, and continues to develop patient solutions in the academic and commercial spheres.
Dr. Koss has special interest and training in the medical and surgical management of voice, swallow, early throat cancer, and airway disorders. She has expertise in performing high level procedures in the office setting, providing an alternative to patients who are anxious about the operating room or those who cannot undergo general anesthesia. She is passionate about delivering excellent care and having patients be at the center of decision making.
Dr. Koss also has extensive experience in the management of nasal and sinus disorders, pediatric Otolaryngology, hearing and balance disorders, and benign and malignant tumors of the head and neck. Dr. Koss is a member of the medical staff at NYU Winthrop Hospital, Northwell Plainview, and St. Joseph Hospital.
