Q. What is the difference between Botox and Restylan and do you administer those in your practice?

A : For complete information on Botox and Restylan please refer to our cosmetic and facial plastic services. Botox is a toxin that is used to treat the aging lines in our skin. The drug actually causes paralysis of the muscles it is injected into. The localized paralysis is used to improve the cosmetic appearance of lines that appear in the forehead, over the bridge of the nose, the "crow's feet" lines that appear on the sides of the eyes and the lines that appear over the lips both the upper and lower lips. Proper administration of Botox will lead to nice cosmetic results that do not look as if the face is frozen.

Restylan is a material from the family of facial fillers. This material is used to inject and fill facial lines that are not a result of underlying muscles but more as a result of the reduced tension of skin as we age.
